Xzibit was born on September 18, 1974 in Detroit and was raised by his mother. Xzibit’s father left the family early, leaving his mother to care for the family which included four siblings (an older sister and brother, as well as a younger brother and sister). After her death in 1984 Xzibit moved in with his father who had remarried and relocated to Albuquerque.
Xzibit lived in Albuquerque until age 17 and began writing lyrics as a form of entertainment after suffering numerous bouts of minor incarceration. Ultimately a falling out with his father forced Xzibit to relocate to Los Angeles, where he lived with his sister. Due to the city’s strong presence within hip-hop, Xzibit decided to pursue a music career. He would also reconcile with his father in 1998.
