In 1988, at Syracuse University, Kane was arrested for assaulting a Syracuse University police officer, after the officer tried to have his car that was illegally parked removed. He was charged with second degree assault, second-degree obstruction of the administration of the government in addition to resisting detention. The judge sentenced him to community work.
A draft pick in the third round, Kane played for the Seattle Seahawks from 1988 to 1992, but his career ended prematurely because of knee and ankle injuries.
