He was selected to the San Diego Chargers in the third round of the 2001 NFL Draft, and he was also a professional player for the Edmonton Eskimos and Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the CFL.

He earned one of the top marks of Jeff Whitaker’s Deep South Football. He was ranked the 12th-best defensive player in the nation in Super Prep. He had 10 interceptions in the course of his last two seasons. He recorded 70 tackles in his senior season.
