After graduating from University of Nebraska–Lincoln in 1980, he worked in Nebraska as a Marketing Specialist for several years until he moved to Wichita, Kansas in 1985 to accept a position with Farm Credit Bank of Kansas. In 1993, Rogers became a Vice President with CoBank Farm Credit Leasing, where he would remain until his election to the Kansas Senate in 2016.
