Guillaume Emmanuel de Homem-Christo, French musician, record producer and singer, songwriter, director, and filmmaker, is Guillaume Emmanuel de Homem-Christo. He is also part of French house music duo Daft Punk with Thomas Bangalter. With Eric Chedeville, he has produced many works on his record label Crydamoure.
Thomas Bangalter and Homem-Christo met while they were both attending Lycee Carnot together in 1987. They met there and discovered their shared love for movies and music from the 1960s and 1970s. Laurent Brancowitz and the two formed Darlin’, an indie rock band in which Homem Christo played guitar. Bangalter believed that it was “still maybe more of a teenage thing at the time.” It’s almost like everyone wants to be in the band. Bangalter and Homem Christo were criticized for their “daft punky rock thrash” music. This led to them changing their name. After meeting at a club in 1992, the two became immediately interested in electronic dance music. Homem-Christo is the one who designed the Daft Punk logo, as it appears in the Homework liner notes.
Following the release of Daft Punk’s fourth album Random Access Memories, Homem-Christo and Bangalter collaborated on two tracks with The Weeknd, “Starboy” and “I Feel It Coming,” with the former gaining the duo their first number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and the latter, co-written by Chedeville of Le Knight Club, peaking at number four. Homem-Christo worked on the title track to Charlotte Gainsbourg’s fifth studio album Rest, released in 2017. He also contributed to the 2018 song “Hurt You”, a collaboration with The Weeknd and Gesaffelstein.
